Teachers Who Shine, a Paragon Cleaning community campaign honoring Hampton Roads teachers

EVERY FRIDAY IN AUGUST
$250
to one Hampton Roads teacher
Four teachers, four weeks. For whatever their classroom needs.
NOMINATE BY AUGUST 27
$1,000
to one school
A supply drop for the whole staff at the school with the most nominations.
How a school wins the $1,000
You don’t nominate a school. You nominate a teacher, and their school gets the point automatically.
1

Nominate any teacher. Takes about two minutes.

2

Their school moves up one spot on the leaderboard.

3

We post leaderboard standings twice a week on Facebook, and update this page every Friday.

4

Whichever school is on top when nominations close August 27 wins. Announced August 31.

One nomination per person per teacher, so a school climbs by getting more people involved, not by one person submitting over and over.

Current standings Updated August 19
1 Samuel P. Langley Elementary School 148
2 Aberdeen Elementary School 107
3 Burbank Elementary School 60
4 Tanners Creek Elementary School 42
5 Cooper Elementary School 18
Plus 59 more schools on the board.
The leaderboard counts one nomination per person, so a school climbs by getting more people involved. You can still nominate more than one teacher, and every nomination is read and considered for the weekly $250 awards.

How recipients are selected: Weekly recipients are chosen by our team based on demonstrated classroom need, impact on students, and the strength of the nomination, with an effort to represent schools across the region. We select one teacher per school across the campaign so the recognition spreads as widely as possible. Nominations not selected in one week automatically roll into the following week. The one-per-school rule applies to weekly recipients only and has no effect on the school leaderboard, which counts total nominations.

How weekly recipients are selected. Weekly recipients are chosen by Paragon Cleaning staff based on demonstrated classroom need, impact on students, and the strength of the nomination, with an effort to represent schools across the region. One weekly recipient is selected per school across the campaign. Nominations not selected in one week roll into the following week, and nominations received in the final week are considered for the fourth and final weekly award.

How the school award is determined. The school leaderboard counts total nominations received, limited to one nomination per email address per teacher. The school leaderboard counts one nomination per nominator, so a school climbs by getting more people involved rather than by one person submitting repeatedly. Counting closes August 27, 2026 at 11:59pm ET. The winning school is announced August 31, 2026.

Notification and publicity. Recipients will be contacted directly and must confirm before their name is published. Declining publicity does not affect the award.

Recipient responsibility. Recipients are responsible for confirming that their school division permits accepting a gift from a business.
